Arnold van de Klundert

Arnold van de Klundert has a background both in Building and in Roads & Hydraulic Engineering. Since 1989 his main experiences lie with urban solid waste management and particularly with the integration of the great variety of stakeholders to achieve an Integrated Sustainable Waste Management (ISWM). His focus is on the role of micro and small enterprises and community groups and the reduction of waste (minimization, recovery, re-use). He is founder of WASTE and was director of the Urban Waste Expertise Programme (UWEP 1995-2001). He coordinated research on some specific waste fractions: health care waste, household batteries and plastics. He is co-author of several publications, developed the ISWM concept and has been part-time lecturer at the IHE, Delft, the Netherlands.
