Valentin Post, holds an MSc in economics and an MBA with specialization in environment, has twenty years experience working in developing countries, with a focus in solid waste management and sanitation.

At WASTE he has pioneered WASTE’s innovative portfolio in sustainable finance, enterprise development, Public-Private Partnerships (PPP's) and capacity-development. He has done feasibility studies related waste re-use, health-care waste and post-tsunami reconstruction in Sri Lanka.

Valentin has special skills in negotiation, constituency and network creation, project supervision and -execution. He has negotiated with large Western banks and with local financial institutions on the establishment of guarantee funds. He managed the Waste Venture Facility which created a guarantee fund under the ISSUE programme, supported by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and has been working with banks in several countries.

His in-country experience includes: Austria, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Iran, Mali, Malawi, Nigeria, Ghana, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and the Netherlands.

He has been active in sectoral and environmental policy analysis, joint venture promotion and wastewater treatment. Private sector clients have included the large Netherlands-based private waste management firm AVR, Danone, the governments of Austria, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs (DGIS), the European Union and CORDAID.

Valentin’s languages of work are Dutch, English, German, and basic French.
