What we do

WASTE assists in building an enabling environment for communities in nine selected districts in NTT, Papua Bharat and Papua Provinces in Indonesia, to realise a sustainable healthy living environment, through coordinated action to promote sanitation and hygiene and to increase access to safe drinking water and school sanitation.

How we do it

This project promotes the involvement of local, national and international NGOs in the organisation, implementation and coordination of this programme, following the national STBM strategy in close collaboration with the government and UNICEF. This will be monitored and shared at district, provincial and national level to reinforce sector management and for replication. SHAW looks at further developing innovative approaches to promoting, monitoring and documenting behavioural change in sanitation and hygiene and building district and village capacities for developing, implementing and managing well-sustained district-wide sanitation and hygiene programmes.
