Series of publications for start-up businesses in plastic recycling in Mali
EJOM project: L’emploi des jeunes crée des opportunités, ici au Mali
The 4-year project, funded by EuropeAid, aims at facilitating youth employment in Mali by offering business training to young people in Mali. The consortium consists of ICCO, WASTE and APEJ is led by SNV. The focus of the business training is centred around agriculture, solid waste management and utilitarian crafts.
In addition to giving young people the opportunity to start their own business in one of these sectors, small and starting businesses were given the possibility to get a small grant to improve their business. Within the waste sector, most trainees were interested to start waste collection, composting, and plastic valorisation.
All of the selected budding entrepreneurs have had their basic training and the distribution of start-up funds is ongoing. WASTE is continuing to look at how we can support the youth and starting entrepreneurs and enterprises by focussing on what they need. For start-up businesses in plastic recycling, a series of publications has been shared to support the young entrepreneurs and their business coaches. The documents are available in both French and English on our website.
