Faecal sludge & organic solid waste management: Windrow co-composting & constructed wetlands
Standard operating procedures – Background
The purpose of this report is to describe the treatment method of organic solid waste with faecal sludge through constructed wetlands and co-composting in developing countries through Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and practical guidelines for operation and maintenance while considering public health, environment and the economics of composting. The study also proposes ways in which planners and operators in developing countries can produce co-compost with faecal sludge and organic solid waste to better match their needs and requirements.
The scope of this report is to provide a brief assessment of the technical feasibility to implement the co-composting of faecal sludge and solid waste treatment facility as a reference document in developing countries.
