Gert de Bruijne

As political scientist I have built up professional expertise in the Middle East, and have been responsible for various decentralised sanitation projects in Palestine. One of my projects was managing, for two years, the first successful dry-sanitation project in a Muslim society.

Within WASTE I have been responsible for the development of all the organization’s major sanitation programmes and country-responsible for Malawi, Zambia, Vietnam, the Philippines and Indonesia. Other activities include building cooperation with other European organisations to join forces in designing sustainable sanitation projects. Also I am co-founder of the Dutch Nutrient Platform that focuses on the rapidly developing world-wide phosphate scarcity. Since two years I have positioned WASTE in the centre of the development of innovative emergency sanitation.

Additional to my native Dutch, I am fluent in English, Arabic, German, and have a good command of French.
