Our team is busy gearing up for another year of insightful events at the fast approaching SIWI World Water Week. This year’s theme is ’Water for people and progress‘ working towards a more just an equitable water secure future for all people, especially the most marginalised, against the backdrop of climate change.

To add to this vital discussion, we are delighted to be co-convening a Scientific Programme Committee Seminar Series on Mobilising Finance for Water Security together with Altamira and the Humanitarian Innovative Finance Hub (HIFHUB). Find out more below and join us at this year’s World Water Week.

Seminar Series: Mobilising Finance for Water Security

Climate change and water insecurity disproportionately affect vulnerable communities, limiting access to resilient services, infrastructure and finance. Our three-part seminar series will explore mobilising finance for water security across the investment cycle from policy to accountability. Join us as we bring together public, private and development actors to design inclusive, climate-resilient solutions. A systems approach aligns actors, incentives and finance to reduce risk and improve affordability of services.

Seminar 1: Aligning Actors and Capital to Structure Investable Water

Monday 24 August – 11:00-12:30 | Room 27, Level 2 | Session ID: 14118

In this interactive workshop we will delve into how cross-sector partnerships and innovative finance instruments can support investable, climate-resilient water systems. Drawing on practical experiences we will examine how public, private, concessional and humanitarian actors can align incentives, financing and implementation approaches to transform strategic plans into scalable, investment-ready portfolios that strengthen equitable and sustainable water security globally.

Seminar 2: Unlocking Private Investment for Climate-Resilient Water Systems

Tuesday 25 August – 11:00 – 12:00 | Online | Session ID: 14119

For part two, we will join together online to explore how blended finance, climate finance and innovative risk-sharing mechanisms can unlock greater private sector investment for climate-resilient water systems in contexts of growing climate, policy and market uncertainty. It examines how public, philanthropic and private actors can collaborate to reduce risks, strengthen enabling conditions and mobilise scalable investment solutions supporting adaptation, resilience and equitable water security globally.

Seminar 3: Rethinking Investment Origination: A Mission-Driven Approach to Investment Planning

Wednesday 26 August – 14:00-15:30 | C2, Level 2 | Session ID: 14120

We will conclude our seminar series by exploring how investment origination can move beyond isolated small-scale interventions and projects toward mission-driven, system-level planning approaches for water security and climate resilience. We will examine how public, private, humanitarian and development actors can collaborate upstream of the investment cycle to strengthen long-term resilience, investment readiness and equitable development outcomes globally.
